US Army Wants to Build World’s Most Powerful Solar Array

We all know that the Army isn’t really known to be on the environmental friendly side but it seems that they are trying to prove us wrong by creating the most powerful sun array. Announced yesterday was a plan to build a 500 MW solar thermal plant in the Mojave Desert at Fort Irwin. Now that is huge especially if you take into consideration that the United States largest solar array consists merely of a 15 MW plant outside of Las Vegas.

Now the Army knows they have a lot to prove so on top of that they also announced that they have plans to buy 4,000 electric vehicles for their staff. So this is all great news especially if you take into account the amount of Solar Panels and work that will need to be done to create something so massive. This is a nice compensation for the Armys massive energy consumption throughout the years.
